Vendor: Radio Shack
Subject: HTX-202 Extended RX/TX Modification
** Remember: All standard disclaimers apply. Think twice before
putting your hard earned cash under the knife. Also, chances are
that after you modify the rig, R.S. repair centers wont touch
it.......
* Opens up RX to 118-227 MHZ (Aircraft & 220 MHZ Band!)
* Opens up TX to 140-159.995 MHZ
1. Remove the antenna, battery case
2. Unscrew all screws on the back and the sides of the case.
3. Carefully pry apart the two halves of the shell, pay special
attention to the fine wires attaching them !
4. Locate and remove chip resistors R45 through R69.
5. The above step opens RX to the commplete range. Only
remove
R55 for 140-174 MHZ.
6. Add a 0 ohm (or solder jumper) to empty positions of R77,
R123, and R124 - this opens the TX.
7. Most of the chip resistors mentioned above can be located on
the first layer of the PC board. A couple are harder to get
to. i.e.
8. Close everything back up, tucking the extra wires in being
sure none of them get pinched by the case.
9. RESET the CPU and your off ! ! !
Note from WB4YQV, This is just the way the article was written and I
will have to see if I can get you a good e-mail address for some more
mods...... Best of 73's, and I hope this helps..... Charlie
